Hey Eric,

The clipper creek LCS25, a L1 Panasonic EVSE with the EVSEUpgrade, the SPX Xpress area all great portable EVSE's to keep in the trunk. I made my L2 BLINK EVSE portable with a PLUG and a long 12GA extension cord. (No this is not recommended for 30Amp use, however both my old LEAF and my Current VOLT only use 12-16amps so 12GA is perfectly fine, any higher would pose a electrical risk)
With the big unit its not particularly a compact portable system, but its portable enough for me to disconnect, and reconnect at a friends/family members house.
Thanks for the tip re: Clipper Creek LCS25 sale. Ordered one this am, no tax, $14 shipping, notified it's shipped just a few hours later.

EVSE Upgrade would be a good game, if they did the Volt upgrades, like they used to.
Since they stopped doing the Volt upgrade, the only option is $979 for both a new Leaf unit AND the upgrade.
They used to do the Volt upgrades for $287, same price as current rev2 Leaf upgrades. But it appears he got a very bad taste from the early (BAD) Volt EVSE's, and never recovered when the new (MUCH BETTER) ones came out. This thread has a good discussion of it (including quotes of their VERY strong anti-Volt bias on their FAQ, all based on no longer valid information!):

Oh, and note, EVSEUpgrade is NOT the only game in town. There is also the OpenEVSE option. Which also gives you 120/240V auto-switching. There is even the OPTION of putting it all in the Volt stock enclosure. See the discussion of it on this thread:

Did you actually try it at 120V, Eric, or are you only quoting their specs? I am curious if anyone has tried this at 120V, since it is exactly the same board as the *2013* stock EVSE.
I have one, but haven't put a plug on it yet. I have a L6-30P plug, and a L6-30R receptacle, and a L6-30 to 5-15 (normal 120V plug) adapter all on order. Other than the obvious fact that it isn't spec'd for it, does anyone know of a technical reason trying it on 120V would hurt it?
Oh, and btw, to show what i mean about the boards, here are pics of the 2013 stock EVSE board and the LCS-25 board, respectively:
Here is the Leaf L1/L2 upgraded dual voltage charger in a Volt
http://carphotos4.cardomain.com/imag...4735_large.jpg it fits better than the stock Volt charger. Haven't used it yet, actually I have only used my stock volt charger for the first week I owned it. Got the L2 AV wall charger right away.
