    Cool Toyota's Financial Pain

The Nikkei reports that Toyota Motor Corp.’s group operating loss for the year ending March 31 is likely to jump to ¥400 billion (US$4.5B) from the ¥150 billion it projected last month.

It seems to me, that if Toyota is undergoing so much pain, given they were projecting a 18B profit one year ago, GM must be in a world of hurt. I sure hope they get the extra funding needed to bring Volt to fruition.

True, $4.5 billion a year losses would be a dream for GM who has been losing that much every 60 days or so for the last 2 years.

As requested, I'm here NZ...I can't think of anything original or pithy to comment here so I'll just say:

I'm very important, uh, I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany. I-- I'm friends with Merlin Olson, too. He comes over on occasion.

/once we get the numbers next week I'm sure we can get a good feeling on the 'state of the auto union'
