\r\n Default Are most Volt owners Democrats\r\n

\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n

\r\n
\r\n Hi, I am the proud owner of a 2013 White Summit.
\n
\nWhile spending 20 days debating if I should buy a Volt I discovered news articles where Tea Party members criticized Obama for the stimulus/loans that allowed the production of the Volt.
\n
\nIt has never occurred to me before however now I wonder if Republicans buy Volts.
\n
\nIf not too much trouble, and also if you are a Volt owner or strongly considering one, can readers of this thread indicate if you are a Democrat or Republican.
\n
\nThanks.\r\n

\nI think your question is answered here.
\nIt is pretty evenly split between republicans, democrats and independents.\r\n

\r\n I think the best predictor of whether someone buys a Volt is how interested they are in technology. To the extent that technology types lean more to the Democrats the more Volt ownership will have a Democratic lean. I don\'t think the Tea Party blogs have much impact on car buying decisions.\r\n

    \nDitto....

\r\nRegistered Republican, but Bush Sr. was the last Republican President I voted for. I don\'t see the Republicans changing any time soon, so I\'m not sure why I haven\'t changed my registration...

\r\n You missed an option. I don\'t vote for anyone. Never watch the news and they\'re all liers anyways. If I can\'t make an informed opinion, then I don\'t make one. So, it\'s hard to vote on your poll. The fact that obama does like the Volt makes me think in his favor, but maybe his opponant might also. I don\'t know, and haven\'t had time to look up anything on anyone since I work too much.
\nI\'m more of a tech person, so I didn\'t get one because of any political agenda or infuence.
\nSo, your missing option is "Who Cares About Polotics. I just love the car."\r\n

\r\n I think the "inferred" point here is that Democrats are supposed to be driving the "green energy" revolution. So with that point in mind the intended market would be for Democrats. I leased a Volt and a Leaf cause I am tired of handing my money over to foreigners, and also because I like technologically advanced objects. I think overall these cars are born out of misconceptions about the environment and their ability to reduce overall carbon emissions. Personally me and my wife drive more than ever now than before (about 25,000 miles between the 2 cars per year).
    \n
\nIn my mind though through experience it seems people buy these cars as a status symbol to show they are trying to care about the enviornment, and that goes back to the original question of party affiliation. Most people are shocked to find out I am a conservative since Fox News and the like have put out there that the Volt is the Obamamobile. Eventually we will get passed these barriers though. Maybe when I turn both cars back in and hopefully buy a Model S.\r\n

\r\n I bought my Volt for many reasons, but political is not one of them.
    \n
\nWhy I bought my volt, in no particular order ...
    \nI like technology
\nI have a fascination with electric motors and always wanted an electric car.
\nI do believe in global warming or at least I believe we should not pollute because we can -' + '- always try and make things better
\nI am tired of the price of gasoline fluctuating as well as giving so much of my pay check to the oil companies
\nI believe the answer to our oil dependency is to reduce our consumption ... not drill more and more and more...
\nThe demand for gas will only continue to increase as more nations thirst for it.. why wait for the well to run low before we reduce out thirst .. get ahead of the game.\r\n

\nParty affiliation does not matter anymore, its all total BS. TBH, I wish we had a multiparty system with 5-6 choices so people had to actually be educated on their candidate before voting.. none of this -' + '- "oh, he\'s black" type of crap, or now, "oh, its a woman"... its so idiotic to see the parties scrambling to put up some half-assed candidate just because of their race, sex, etc...

\n I didn\'t vote for him. I\'ve come to the realization that the best policy is to simply vote incumbents out. It doesn\'t matter who the party in power is, they want to spend my hard earned money on their pet projects or they want to grab more power from the rights of the populace. The longer a Politician is in office the more comfortable they become in taking away money and individual rights.
    \r\n
\r\nWhile I am an avid supporter of the Volt, I oppose subsidies (and that includes Oil subsidies, road subsidies, child subsidies, endless war subsidies) because we are not meeting our past obligations (deficit spending) while continually tacking on new obligations. The answer is to cut spending by using zero-based thinking. Alas, that isn\'t going to happen so the best I can hope for is to vote the incumbents out with such regularity that the successors don\'t have any personal investment in continuing out-of-control spending. Maybe America will get lucky and return to the days where political service was a temporary venture from normal people.\r\n

\nUmm. I\'m not an expert on the subject, but everything I\'ve read said Ford went through their crisis a couple years earlier, when they were able to acquire a bunch of credit to do the restructuring - credit that wasn\'t available for anyone in the dark days of 2008/9.\r\n

\nThey could have done what Ford did..mortgage ALL the patents, plants and equipment, come up with a viable recovery plan and just DO IT. Hell, when some dip-wad politician chastised the CEO for flying to DC for the hearings in a corporate jet he just cowed down instead of doing what Howard Hughes did and say something like...\'might I remind you senator, that you work for ME...I don\'t work for YOU\'...but nobody in corporate America has a set like that anymore...kind of like the Feds putting Martha Stewart in jail for $80,000 of insider trading when they were allowing themselves to do millions a year in insider trading.
    \n
\nWhat they don\'t realize is, given what I\'ve seen over the 55 years of following politics in America, should this continue....a revolution is coming and I don\'t mean that euphemistically....I truly believe another 1776 will happen by mid century. The working people of this country are about fed up with 5 generations of lazy bums living off our hard earned money. Go visit some new public housing and tell me YOU grew up in a better house.....unless your parents were doctors, lawyers, successful business owners you most likely didn\'t. Kids I grew up with parents were missile guidance engineers at Bell Labs and they didn\'t have houses in the 1960\'s that were as nice as the new \'poverty\' housing we provide for parasites.\r\n

\nWell GM didn\'t do it the way FORD did so we should kill this American company and let it be a total loss, bail out money and all. I didn\'t agree with the strategy either, bankruptcy and restructuring sounded better and the unions could see what they did to GM. Hating GM and wanting them to fail (many have this position) is a childish position to take. And all those who blame this strategy on Obama need to go back and check some headlines, it was actually Bush that started the GM bail out program (Bush also was the one to sign into law the $7500 EV tax credit) yet Obama mobile seems to be what people think about the Volt. The Volt was designed and built years before Obama took office.\r\n

Kids I grew up with parents were missile guidance engineers at Bell Labs and they didn\'t have houses in the 1960\'s that were as nice as the new \'poverty\' housing we provide for parasites.
    \r\n \r\n
    \r\n
    \r\n
    \nYou should be clearer.
    \n
\nAre you calling the working poor parasites ? If so then you have obviously not seen public housing. In Chicago public housing residents work. They live a small apartments and pay rent that is subsidized by the fed\'s however they are stacked on top of each other like rats. Any low, low middle class person in this country can live like Kings compared to the way that they live. Are you calling these people parasites ?
    \n
\nFYI, public housing accounts for a tiny roach crumb of the federal budget. You seem to be saying this tiny roach crumb is the cause of everything that\'s wrong with this country.
    \n
\nBeing an American you do have a choice. You can choose to hate the working poor. They actually do work harder than you likely do however they get paid $8 per hour.
    \n
\nYou have a choice as an American to prey on these working poor people and you can consider them the root of all evil that should be stamped out similar to what news reports are saying happened in Ferguson.
    \n
\nI think different from that. Whatever problems we have here are not due to a tiny crumb of the federal budget. Its something more.\r\n

\nWhat part of "credit that wasn\'t available in 2008/9" are you missing here?
    \n
\nI\'m quite certain that GM would have failed if they tried that, because the financial industry was running scared and no one would have given GM enough money to work with.
    \n
\nUnfortunately I\'m not convinced you\'re wrong about the revolution part. Those tend to be messy, bloody events where lots of people die horrible deaths. I\'m trying to balance common sense with paranoia on the subject - actually one of the (many) reasons I bought the Volt originally.\r\n

\nWell, here is what I know: My wife and I made over 32k more last year than in 2009. I have been doing the same job with the same company for over 20 yrs, and my wife has been at her present job for over 10. In 2008, our company had its first ever layoff in its 37 year history. We currently have more people now than we did in 2008. My 401k regained everything it lost 2008 and then some.\r\n

\r\n I was a republican until yesterday. Now I\'m just a pissed off veteran that feels completely abandoned by our career politicians. As far as I\'m concerned, our forefathers would be shooting by now.
\nI owned a civic Gx for 9 years. It ran flawlessly for 293,000 miles. I sold it to my neighbor when I decided I wanted more creature comforts. With a 1,000 a week commute I wanted something easy on my wallet, that still could run solo in the HOV lane, I have solar panels on my roof so why not take advantage of those and most of all...no more range anxiety.
\nNeedless to say, whatever good this car is doing for the environment, these two are nullifying its efforts.

\nIt seems that sewage plants would be a great place to start if we could convert waste into fuel (for example). But sequestration won\'t become a reality for awhile according to this article.\r\n

It pains me to click huffpost links but I did. Since it talks about DuPont I did a search on what they\'re doing and came up with this from their Biofuels Digest site:
    \n
    \nhttp://www.biofuelsdigest.com/bdiges...ize-waste-co2/
    \n
    \nI\'m liking this a lot.

\nNot meaning to throw cold water (all the time), the sentence above the one you quoted reads,

    \n\n
    \r\n
    \r\n
    \r\n
\r\n \r\n The company’s technology is not aimed at capture — it would work with any existing carbon capture strategy. It’s goal is to be logistically simple and low cost — a drop-in complement acquired on-site and used on-site, at a relatively low cost.\r\n \r\n
    \r\n
    \r\n
\nSo, this company\'s technology is targeted at novel ways to use CO2, not to collect it. In my view, collecting CO2 so that it is useful for something is the big challenge.\r\n

Default Are most Volt owners Democrats

Hi, I am the proud owner of a 2013 White Summit.

While spending 20 days debating if I should buy a Volt I discovered news articles where Tea Party members criticized Obama for the stimulus/loans that allowed the production of the Volt.

It has never occurred to me before however now I wonder if Republicans buy Volts.

If not too much trouble, and also if you are a Volt owner or strongly considering one, can readers of this thread indicate if you are a Democrat or Republican.

      Thanks.
