Default 6.6KW/h charger might be possible after all

I'm wondering if it will be possible to retrofit the Bolt's 6.6KW charger in the Gen 2 Volt.

I know it's just theoretical at this point until we can get our hands on a real Bolt.

I don't see the bolt's Charger being radically different from the Volts... wonder who will be the first brave soul to attempt this conversions.

Concern is the warranty; if it's even possible to do, would Chevy be able to find out?
The good news is by the time the first Bolt is delivered, MAYBE specs will begin to trickle out with the MY18 Volt...No one is entirely sure what Chevy will do if anything with the next MY Volt but it's quite possible we won't see any changes until 18 months from now and that's a lot of time to make improvements...Who knows, maybe they'll release a MY17.5 this fall...Even most "die hard" Volt yes men who demonize anyone who wants a DCFC option would agree that 6.6kWh would be a welcomed improvement...

Dear GM, thanks for offering ACC on the Volt, now let's give it 7.2kW charging & a garage door opener...

For people that only charge at night at home, this is not needed (like me). The size of wiring and control software will probably not be the same. I doubt that the mount location and harness is the same either.

/btw. kWh is capacity such as 18kWh battery. 6.6kW is the charge level. I have no idea what KW/h means unless it's talking about the charge accepted per hour which is tapered anyway.

Just as a note the Bolt EV will have a 7.2KW Level 2 AC charger.

While it may be theoretically possible, I doubt it would be easy or inexpensive to frankenstein something. I'd expect many roadblocks to a successful result. But hey, some people like a challenge and have the time, money, and required technical skills to pursue something like this without regard to cost and time practicality.

Software would still cap the charging rate.

    kW/hr x (1000 W/kW) x ((J/s)/W) x (hr/3600 s) x (Nm/J) = 0.2778 Nm/s^2

    Duh.

Great news! My JuiceBox is ready for that since 2014. See my signatures in past posts and my article on the JuiceBox construction.
