I don't know that the wheels are lighter, but critically they were chosen to fit the bigger Brembo brakes, whereas the standard wheels supposedly do not. You might also notice that, unlike the stock wheels, the sport wheels are not unique to the ELR and can be found being used as an option on the new Buick Cascada convertible. That's not so great that they're not Cadillac exclusive, but I still think they look a lot sharper looking than the standard wheels.
Hopefully someone knows how heavy or light they are. I'm changing mine out and will only do it if they are substantially lighter. The standard 20's are VERY, VERY HEAVY. I will weigh them soon.
Any updates to the weight? I'm curious as well before I order a set of aftermarket.
