I would like to comment on the location for the AC plug. The common location for the gas fill will not necessarily be the best location for an electric charge. The electric will need to be charging for many hours either at home or as infrastructure develops recharge takes place in motels or in city parking lots.

The optimum place for the AC plug would be in the front of the car or secondly in the rear. The recharge from the grid would likely take the form of a parking meter that could access 2 vehichles at a time.

Pulling into a parking spot with a parking meter style watt meter located along side of the car would be difficult for people to avoid while parking.

Think of the watt meter as a coin operated parking meter.
