Down to $26 on amazon now.

    I got this one:

Half price of the above 'official EV outlet', more or less the same specs, minus the pretty light and green color.

Or you could just get a $3 20A rated outlet from Home Depot...
The GFI adds a few bucks, then marketing it as an "EV charging outlet" adds another $10 probably...

Stupid to burn an expensive cord when the 20 year old outlet fails. Needless to say outlets do fail and some are total junk to begin with, toss that outlet and get a decent one, a 20 amp model is more likely to be up to the task.

    Cheers

LOL @ ^ That's exactly why I love reading this stuff... you guys crack me up.

I remember when I first took my Volt home and plugged it in. Even though I had already replaced the builders-grade stick-back outlet with one that was of higher quality, I kept checking it for heat every few hours for the first couple of weeks just to make sure. Chevy should consider including an educational DVD with the EVSE that has a video describing what to look for and when to call an electrician, or heck just have it play through the stack.

I think the green outlet looks kinda cool. It matches the green leather inserts that were available on the seats in the 2011 Volts.
