Switching driving modes

Odd little quirk. When in Mountain Mode you can't go into Hold mode. You have to first go into Normal or Sport and then the option to go into hold mode becomes available. I wonder why.

Can't go into Hold mode when you're running on gas. If the engine is running Hold will be greyed out.

Right, that essentially what I just said. I find it odd though that the system can't just switch modes. If I'm holding a charge or building up charge in Mountain Mode then why can't it just switch to Holding the current charge in Hold mode? Why must I go back to Normal or Sport an then select Hold mode? Not talking about when the pack is depleted because clearly you can't "hold" a zero charge.
