    Lightbulb Rear Hatch Handhold

This has probably been mentioned already, but bears repeating. Anybody yet to mash their wrist while closing the rear hatch on the VOLT? Accident waiting to happen especially for those now just becoming acquainted with their new car. The handhold on the right, bottom of the rear hatch appears meant to be used as a place to lift up, as well as close the hatch. Unfortunately, if you keep your hand there while lowering (or worse, slamming) it closed, that will likely result in a major injury to back of your hand and wrist. OUCH!!!

After three weeks of ownership I'm still getting used to remembering its location; I wish another one were to the left of the latch. Never thought of keeping my hand there through the whole closing procedure, though.... must be an innate sense causing me to let go somewhere in mid-swing..... probably related to the many car hoods I've slammed shut over the years - I'd never have kept my hand under a descending hood.

I find it works quite well. Simply pull the hatch down about half way, then let go. The weight of the hatch takes car of the rest. There's no need to keep your hand there anywhere near the closed position.

Agreed. I have had no issues. I actually think it is one of the better designed hatches I have seen.

I'm one of those 2013's. And yes I have had zero issues with closing the hatch.

    Zero issue for me.

Other tips: Remove your hand from under the hood before letting it slam shut, or your hand will be caught and hurt. Bring your leg into the car before closing the door is also advisable.

I have a SAAB and it has a similar pull. It is more likely to get my hand than our Volt. I guess I have been pre-trained!
