A funny thought occurred to me, and since we've had a recent slew of political diatribes from both sides, I thought I'd lighten the air a bit.

Ever notice how the electric inlet for the Volt is on the left, and the gasoline cap is on the right?

Truly funny, and it's messed me up from the old skool days, when Chrysler had the gas on the right, but GM always on the driver's side.
Maybe they figure that since most of us really do plug in for most driving, that part still wanted to be on the driver's side? But then, why in front?

So you could also say - the electric input is forward looking, and the gas port backward looking (in more than one sense).

As for politics, all those sociopaths give me a pain - all of them. Why we let people who want that job have it, I have no clue, it's a mistake of huge proportions.

You realize, of course, that that's only what it looks like from the Volt owner's (driver's) perspective - or from the perspective of those getting behind the Volt.

From the perspective of those getting in front of the Volt (getting in it's way?) the gas is on the left, and the electric is on the right.

I'm not quite sure where this metaphor is going, but I wanted you to be at least as confused as I am. So There. :-P

If we're talking analogies, the electric inlet is on the forward part of the car (the future) and the gas cap is on the back (you can figure it out)....

Maybe I should have said port and starboard, though I don't think the joke would have been as funny. But gas in the rear... I like that.

The Volt is like a modern-day mullet. Electricity up front, gas in the rear.

The electric port is by the driver door to make it convenient to remove the plug when getting into the car. No partisanship, just common sense engineering.
