It was just the opposite for us. I bought the Volt for the greenie wife, but liked driving it. Finally she told me "This is my car, you leave it alone and go run that Caddy you liked so much!" So to get to drive one I had to get out of the CTSv and get a Volt for myself. Best thing I have done in quite a while I will have to admit.
So far the only down side is that as we drive them more and more it looks like I need to add some more solar to the site. I am thinking there is a project in the works to DYI 3-4K watts of panels. Should not be a big deal to contract out a microinverter setup to my electrician to hook it all up. I see where I can get some grade A 240 watt panels now for $0.88 a watt and may be able to source them locally for that price.

We are a two-Volt family, but we ordered them both in August 2010, so we do not conform to your scenario.
The first Volt arrived in December 2010; the second in March 2011.
Cheezmo, that's a cool setup you have, but how the heck do you reach all three cars at once? Blink cords are terribly short, so I'm hoping the Aerovironment unit is extra long! As I posted in another thread, I'm charging my wife's RAV4 with the Blink at night and my Volt during the day. I tried to talk my wife into a second Volt, but she wanted another longer-range EV, and I do like the Toyota. My daily commute is 36-40 miles, so her car is our nighttime runabout when we need it, and it has range to spare in almost every situation.
