Default Bought my volt, 4 dealer experiences

So yesterday I finally bought my volt (fully loaded except for nav) after 6 weeks of dealing with four different dealers.(1 local 3 out of state). I want to thank the many forum members, without this forum I fear I would have over paid for a base 2012.

I'll share my exp as of late there has been a lot of discussion about how customers have been treated.

Stingray: unless you are dealing with Charlie don't waste your time. I was working with another sales guy who claimed to handle forum sales with Charlie. This other sales guy was lazy and wouldnt get me any info I needed. Charlie accomplished more in 24 hours then this other sales guy did in 4 weeks. I found the car I wanted but shipping it from Florida to Idaho made it economically impossible to do.

Keyes: I spoke with rick after getting the run around from another sales guy. I was basically told that b/c I live out of state I'm not worth his time. This was frustrating, and turned me off of Keyes. When Shawn started I emailed for assistance, Shawn tried his best but it came down to me hiring a fleet company to pick up the the volt and having them sign for the car- something I wasn't comfortable with.

Chriswell: I spoke with Stefan who was advertising similar prices. Of the three out of town dealerships Stefan worked the hardest to get a deal done, but he was also the most pushy, and condescending. He flat out told me I had to buy within a certain period b/c his boss had a sales promotion.

Peterson: this was my local dealership, when I went in to see the volt I asked about similar pricing. The sales guy laughed at me and said there is no way he would offer pricing like that b/c they sell enough they don't need to drop the price. I left, emailed the GM and got a phone call from the sales manager who told me to find the very best deal nation wide and they'd match it no questions asked. I showed him what Stingray quoted me, Peterson had the same car feature for feature plus the polished wheels. The agreed to sel me the car for the same price regardless. I was surprised and excited. They tried to play the finance shell game but I procured my own rate through ally.

All in all a long and stressful purchase but I'm happy to have my car. Again a lot of thanks to those who provided a wealth of info. One quick disclaimer: I despise buying cars, the whole process and the deception makes me sick. Maybe I'm too hard on these dealers but it's b/c I think the industry is by and large unethical. Take my opinion for what it is.

You have confirmed the need and value of shopping around and taking the time to negotiate with multiple dealers and or sales folks.

This can be frustrating and gets even more complicated if you have a trade. I bought 2 Corvette on-line from out of state dealers because all my local Chevy dealers said what I wanted was impossible. After working a better deal from a KC dealer I made sure I paid my local dealer a visit. He was also the sponsor to our local Corvette Club and knew I would a share my experience with other club members. Suddenly he was discounting new vette's either in stock or ordered by several thousand dollars. I did buy my next vette from them and not only was it a custom order I added the NCM delivery option and got the deal I wanted.

So it's up to each of us to do our homework and let dealers know we have options or we take our money else where.

Thanks for sharing, you have proved the value in shopping around once again.

Don't tease us, we want to know what you paid and the terms of the lease. I got a similar one (2013) for 36 mo, 1500 down and $343 a month on a 15k lease. If you live in Idaho, is it cost effective to deal with stingray and keyes? I think the more people that honestly post their prices on this forum, the more informative others will be, and not get hoodwinked into a crappy deal.

Congrats on getting your car and thanks for posting about your experience. Buying a car should be fun, it's a big purchase that you want to do, but dealers can make the process about as much fun as going to the dentist. They are horribly non-transparent. I only wish that that Congress had been able to have the consumer agency which can now oversee home loans also set the rules for car financing. It would be better for the consumers in the short run and for the dealers in the long run.

The great thing here is that you stuck to it and got yourself a good deal. Ultimately that's what you have to do. We should all be thankful for the internet because it helps level the playing field.

Default Wes Milby Reliable Chevrolet, Inc personalized plates for Wisconsin

I forgot to mention I wanted personalized plates for Wisconsin.
His staff came through and handled it nicely.

Wes made money, the dealer made money, they increased their sales volume of Volts (another 2500 USD??) and I got a great deal.

Worked like capitalism is supposed to work. We all walked away with a smile.
    No muss no fuss.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't an individuals credit score play a major role in any loan or lease deal?
