Default Blink payments system goes live today in PHX

No more free lunch, the Blink chargers at work are now at the best price plan $1.00 per hour while attached. Even if your charge is finished the meter continues to run. In all but summer if I drive through town I can just about do a full round trip on a single charge. So I think the Blink chargers at the airport will be unused if you get charged $1 for each attached hour. Imagine going out of town for a couple days.

Looks like Blink has priced themselves equivalent to $4 gasoline.

I am on my iPad now and will post the e-mail I got from Blink tomorrow.

Looks like they just priced themselves out of business, I will never use them...Its better to make a smaller amount per charge instead soaking the consumer...it defeats the purpose of driving an EV, luckily the Volt runs on gas just fine until a reasonable or free charger is located.

We have one at the Krogers food store - I asked them for Blinks charge points and not GAS points -Will see how that goes.

Some of the charging stations that the Lansing Board of Water & Light installed at the workplaces of Plug-In Electric Vehicle Community Project participants (i.e. myself) are Blink. These were installed before Blink was acquired by Ecotality.

In my case, my employer provides and pays for the electricity. I use a RFID card and an account password to access the EVSE. The account I use to authorize the recharging with at the EVSE belongs to the Lansing Board of Water & Light (which collects usage data).

During the last firmware upgrade performed on the EVSE's, Ecotality initially tried to force individual participants to create accounts, but this was overruled.

Employers who wish to provide EVSE's to employees, but not the rest of the world, may find it difficult to use hardware supported by Ecotality.
