    Default Sports Mode

Can you/dealer program the car to default into the sports mode?

Odd to me that the Leaf, which is so much in need of economical driving style for range defaults to "Sport/Drive" and has to be manually switched to "Normal/Eco". Whereas the Volt where EV range isn't so critical defaults to "Normal/Eco" and has to be switched to "Sport/Drive".

    Seems backwards to me.

Yes , it does seem odd . However , it does seem like GM tries to be conservative and Nissan likes to sell power , speed and pricing over economy.

Why would you want to drive in Sport all the time?

Sport mode does not make you go any faster... you have exactly the same horsepower available in Normal mode.

All sport mode does is change the way the pedal feels. It encourages you to accelerate faster from stops... which severely reduces your EV range.

In my experience... Sport mode = 10 miles less range.

Because it's fun? Not everybody needs max range all the time.

Just push your foot down a little harder... and you get the same fun. (Plus a bit more exercise too!) ;-)

Now I'm curious - I want to hook a datalogger up and do some 0-60 runs. We think it should be dead even between 'normal' and 'sport' - assuming I just punch the gas ?

You get exactly the same result from 0-60 in sport or normal. As long as the accelerator is fully depressed you get exactly the same acceleration either way.
