Default Car reviewer did a flawed ong distance test drive of a Ford Focus Electric.

We have a car reviewer here that tried to do a long distance run on a Battery Electric vehicle - a Ford Focus Electric (FFE).
He wanted to go from Montreal to Old Orchard Beach, and report on this trip.
Well, he did only 101kms (61 miles) before needing a recharge. To achieve this small range, he must have been driving at 75mph...
then around Alburg, VT there are no recharging stations, but you could rent a camping spot with a 240V 30A service plug... but the guy did not bring along any NEMA (plugs) adapters.!

He ended up returning to Montreal on a flat bed. And published his trip on the La Presse newspaper.

People reacted with comments on there is no point to prove you can end up without juice on a long distance run. It's an already known fact. Others indicated that this article is pointless/dumb.

I think there is an hidden agenda behind this article that has the objective of discrditing EVs in general.
How would you comment on such an article?

Reviewers tend to flog cars; this however is amazingly bad. Nice work on his part planning the test trip. The whole flat bed deal is a obnoxious stunt.

He proved that some people should not be driving cars. Just keep this guy away from airplanes! Let's see, I think his reasoning would go something like: "I need to go 175 miles so I'll take enough gas for 115 miles and see what happens." LOL

He no doubt has an agenda, though it may only be to get people to read his articles. How interesting would it be to just say that the car is more or less normal and he was able to drive it around town just like any other car, except it was smoother, quieter, and more responsive.

I remember there was an interesting/humorous article about the Anti-EV arguments. Can't remember if it's Jason M. Hendler who wrote it. If I remember correctly, It was structured in a 2 or 3 chapters, and was taking each main argument and debunking them one at a time.

Can you help me retrace that? I would like to translate it in French and post it as a comment afterwards.

    TIA,

    Hi again
Well, I answered my own question, and found the two articles titled:
EV-Hater’s Guide to Hating Electric Cars http://www.plugincars.com/ev-haters-...rs-107560.html

    and
EV-Hater’s Guide to Hating Electric Cars: Chapter 2 http://www.plugincars.com/ev-haters-...-2-107607.html

I am actually adapting those two articles written by Steve Harvey one year ago, to post them on www.roulezelectrique.com
We might also introduce the EV Hall of shame!

ROTFL, this "rocket scientist" wrote an article to show that pure electric cars are expensive, have limited range, and are worthless for long distance trips....DUH.

I also followed that story/review on the La Presse web site. When the guy said that he would be trying that trip in an EV, I thought that maybe he would at least try to do it right so it would be interesting to see what happened (but I had some doubts...). Anyway, I was not prepared for a review that is that useless. It's like me saying "Can a Chevy Sonic pull a 10000lbs boat?", going to the lake and rant about the fact that there is no standard hitch installed on the car, using duck tape to finally tie it, and ending my story with a blown engine... The fact that EVs a less known does not make his story less useless...

If at least the guy had ended with something like "hey, maybe GM did the right thing with the EREV"

One can always dream (and hope)
