It seems to me that you can set the charge rate to 12AMPS anytime while you are driving (Your "last Leg") and it remembers it.

I saw somewhere in this subject that it resets it back to 8amps when you put it in park - but I think that is not correct???

(But I'm totally open to learning exactly how it works)

I THINK my experience is that anytime I am on my "last leg" of my trip (where I will finally put it in Park as I park in my spot next to my charger) - I can reset it to 12 amps - and it remembers that and charges at 12 amps.

If this is true - to me that simply means that at any time when I am on my "last leg" - (If I remember) I set it to 12 amps and it stays and charges that way - is this correct?

(In other words - it does not revert back to 8 amp when you put it in Park - it seems it reverts back when you take it out of park - or power down and power up) - ???

In any case it is always fully charged overnight at the 8amps - so that is fine with me. We are all different - (I go to bed early) and bugged by different things!

What drives me nuts is I set the Air Con on ECO - (and Automatic) - but then I get in and IT CHANGES the setting to Comfort all by itself - THIS DRIVES ME NUTS!! - also how DIFFICULT it is to turn off the Automatic Air Cond - endless hits on the "fan" to finally get it to off - why not simply an OFF button?
It switches back to the default 8 amps when you take it out of Park.

The issue with Bazinga's outlet was his EVSE was drawing 12 amps, and unknown to him, the circuit was also suppling a refrigerator/freezer. The combined current is what charred the wires. And this kind of thing has happened to others. Had he been using the 8 amp setting, it would likely have been avoided. Hence, GM's new 8A default.
