Charging on 2013 12-amp vs. 8-amp option

I pickedup my New 2013 Silver volt and the dealer showed me a screen where you can set the option for the Volt
to recieve a 12AMP charge or 8AMP(or something like that)

My issue: It resets itself back to the lesser every time I shut off the car.

What am I doing wrong? There is no "save" funcion. I assume that if I click the option it will not
default back to the latter every time.. Very irritating.

The dealer told me that at 12 AMP the car takes a higher charge and that it also can extent the charge from 37 miles to 45 in time. Frankly I have only had my car 65 miles so there is not much to go on..

Has anyone else seen this option under the energy tab? And how can we get it to stay at 12AMP?

Sounds like we need a software Hack that adds the button (Keep this BI@CH on 12AMP)

Also, isn't it 8A default 12A settable? The '11 and '12 use a 12A default for 120V charging.

No matter what rate you charge at, you get the same miles out of the car's total battery charge. It just takes longer to get there on 8A. 1.5A is ridiculous and I think that's a typo in this post.

I forces you to set the charge rate everytime you shut the car off.

1.5Amp.. was a question (which is Why I said Something like that) Its just a pain that we have to set it to 12 amp everytime.. When I go to that screen it defaults back to the lower number

I wonder what would happen if the owners of the MY2013 used the 120V Charge Cord from a 2011/2012.

Nothing, the car sets what ever it wants to as long as its less than what the wall cord advertises is available

So for 2013, its 8 amps unless you manual set using the center stack for 12 amp and the wall cord says at least 12 amp is available ( 2013 wall cords have not user adjustable settings )

For 2011-2012, you can use the wall cord and set ( and sticks ) for 8 or 12 amp and the car follows that setting

Ok good info. I work at lear and know the guys that developed the charger. i am going to see if there is a work around.

So, if all 4 lights are lit on the 2011/2012 cord the MY2103 will still charge at the 8 amp default setting? I guess that would make sense since the cord is simply a "switch" and the charger is in the car itself?
