    Cool HELLO VOLTERS! (Voltees? Voltersons?)

    Hey.

My name is Shawn. I've been a massive Volt nerd since it's development stages. I got a chance to do a 2 week endorsement with the car in 2011 (I was the first person to drive a Volt off the lot in Nevada, albeit not the first to buy). Fell in love with it.

Finally bit the bullet and traded in my paid for Scion tC for a 3 year lease on a fully loaded 2012 Chevy Volt. Just over 1,100 miles now, about 50 miles a day, and I've used about 8 gallons of gas (would have been a lot less if my friend who visited Vegas, where I live, didn't want to go sight seeing).

I am an ardent defender of the Volt...not because I'm a fanboy...because some people are stupid, uninformed lemmings who take anything they hear on a conservative pundit show as truth without any research. Every doubter I've had in my car has changed their story. Love it.

Top score: 51.0 to a charge.

    Just saying hi!

Wlcome Shawn to the growing family of happy Volt owners. You are 100% correct in stating folks should actually drive a Volt before they open their mouth.

The Volt is so satisfying to drive in the real world using almost no gas is just a nice bonus. BTW the last time I added any fuel to Volt was back on April 22nd and since then I've used 7.6 OUNCES for two EMM runs and have driven over 2800 miles during this period. I don't know what that equates too but it must be a ton of MPG.

Welcome to the forum, Shawn. Yep, the Volt is pretty amazing. I just got back from an out of town trip and when I got home my low fuel warning came on. Since that time, several weeks ago, I've gone perhaps around 400 miles. It's not so bad when your "low fuel" like comes on and you can go another 400 miles and not worry about filling up. Looking at my upcoming schedule I'm guessing I will probably go another several weeks before I need to get some gas.

Yep, the Volt is pretty amazing.

With the Volt, I no longer measure gas used for the 60 mile daily commute in gallons. I too now measure it in ounces. The Volt is a game changer. Enjoy the ride!

I would fill up now. If the grid goes down then my backup is the fuel in the tank. No grid power, no way to fill up the gas tank in the Volt. If the "gas grid" goes down (aka fuel supply lines go down) the electric grid is my supply line.

    Default Since I last posted...

I love hearing the uninformed try to tell me how my $150,000 car is a failure. Ugh.

Since I last posted, brought the car in for it's first carwash. And it chipped the paint. How has your success been with the paint job on it?
