    Default DashDaq capability?

Can the DashDaq measure the runtime of the ICE and/or miles travelled while the ICE is running?

I don't have access to Voltstats.net or OnStar so CS miles is not so easily available, and with speed limits predominantly 100km/hr downunder, the ICE would cut in and out when in CS Mode; so the actual miles traveled on the ICE in this case would be less than that recorded as CS miles.

Can the DashDaq provide the ability to record miles (or runtime) driven when the ICE RPM is >0?

    Hope that makes sense.

Thank you for your interest in our DashdaqXL. What's nice about our particular product is that the Chevy Volt license was created specifically for use on the Chevy Volt by GM. Generic OBD2 is also supported by this vehicle. Here is a list of PIDS that the Dashdaq can monitor for you if you purhchas the $95 Chevy Volt license in addition to the Dashdaq itself:

A lot of hybrid battery pids. A volt does not have hybrid battery. What's that all about?

The volt is a hybrid and it has a battery.. the PID for SOC is the same as battery SOC in a prius.

To the OP.. You can measure when the RPM is > 0 using a dashdaq (or any OBDII device).. and could compute it.. but not sure either accumulates that data over longer periods of time. I get it in by OBDII logs and could easily compute it.. but my question is why? (We are working on some software so could add it, just not sure why).

Onstar does not report the actual time the ICE is running.. it just reports CS_mode miles (i.e. any miles were the ICE generated the energy used).

The DD allows for user programmed instruments using sums, averages, offsets, etc. Download the user manual. If you don't want to create an engine timer or rotation summation (average rpm per unit time summation), you can always just log the rpm to an XL format where time is the X axis. The limitation(s) are pretty much your imagination.

While SOC is mode 1 PID, Most of the Voltec parameters are extended PID's which GM treats as trade secrets. The DD is licensed by GM to open that window to you. What the Volt is doing on a minute by minute basis is fascinating. For example in some situations the B motor is running backwards while the car is moving forward. To say I was surprised is an understatement. Its even good for seeing what draws are against charging.
