I was devastated last week when, after almost 9 months with my MY12 I had to go to the gas station. It wasn't even my fault, as recent problems with the charging system forced me to drive on gas for almost two weeks leaving me with a LOW indicator for my gas level. I pulled into the station quietly, pumped about 4 gallons into the car, and snuck away as quietly as I came.

Seriously though, it's hard to complain about using 12 gallons for the 4100 miles I've got on the car...except 10 of those gallons were only because of the charging system going out on the car.

I can't relate. I haven't been to a gas station in my Volt in the 8+ months I have owned it. I guess I'll have to visit in 4 months or so, to top it off when the FMM message appears. Maybe I will have to sneak there in the dead of night

Occasionally, I must travel beyond my 40-44 mile battery range. I dislike it when the ICE kicks in, but love GE for providing it. In my area, the gasoline I use is "free". Here's why...

In buying a Volt plug-in, my local power company changed my billing rates. Last year's monthly bill averaged $175. This year - WITH THE VOLT - it has averaged $136. The difference makes up for the occasional gas-powered business trip.

In fact, my overall monthly vehicle operating cost is about ... ... ... zero.
(ok, ok, I lose the interest on the $ paid for the car)
