Yep, as Krellion mentioned, it's ad-funded. Click a LOT, too, because internet ad revenue ain't what it used to be.
Back inside of the site's first year, when it was still run by Dr. Lyle Dennis, you could also buy a black-on-white Volt T-shirt which I'm sure helped defray his costs a bit (although, IIRC, Lyle also had some ads). Not to mention, you got a cool T-shirt, too. I still have mine.
VerticalScope, which bought the site from Lyle, appears to get their revenue exclusively from the ads. (Jeff Cobb, did I get that all correct?)
