New Study Predicts Approximately 4.1 Million EV Charging Stations By 2017

    http://insideevs.com/new-study-predi...tions-by-2017/
With strong demand for green cars, the use of Government backed incentives, and evolving technology, the boom for electric and plug-in hybrids has just begun. To analyze the future based on present figures, a new study from Frost and Sullivan, that was released last week, states that the charging infrastructure of America will be around 4.1 million stations strong by 2017.

There's about 3,000 now in the states, with 10,000 predicted by winter which seems a little high. We'll see. At $2 per hour you only get 5 miles per dollar which is like $8 per gallon.....

Most of those projected are not commercial installs, which explains the large number of 110-volt. This projection includes private and non-profits.

There is about 9,500 public charging stations in the US atm..at least according to Ford and their new MyFord Mobile App press release yesterday:

Ford’s MyFord Mobile App and Batteries Allow Customers to Benefit from More Than 9,400 U.S. Public Charging Stations

As for the study, I'm not sure you can count 110v receptacles as charging stations...I think the count might be a little low even now if that were the case, (=

The crux of the article would be the million L2/L3 they predict by 2017, which would be one for about every plug-in car on the road. So maybe a even a scootch high there, but who doesn't love to make predictions?
