    Thumbs up Greetings from NC

    Hello all,

New Volt owner here (picked up Wednesday evening) and have been loving it so far. Traded in a Lexus CT200h, which was my third hybrid (Accord and Civic before that). My commute is 54 miles total daily M-F with 240v charger access close to work so I am planning on putting at least 275 miles per week on the odo on 100% electric power and very excited about that.

With few exceptions, the Volt is nicer than my loaded Lexus which cost more when you consider the tax rebate on the Volt. Surprisingly, Volt blows the CT away on the cabin noise and ride quality, two things Lexus is known for. While I will miss the Lexus brand experience, it was well worth the trade.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the Volt. There are a lot of great information and people here.

Thanks for your comments about a Lexus CT200h, I have been curious about the feel by comparison. I was tempted in visiting a Lexus dealership for a test drive. However, I hate driving another car after getting a new one (my Volt is 3 months old)--I fear any types of regrets which I have yet to find in the Volt.

For me, I really wanted to get a Lexus. But, after running the numbers, the Volt made more obvious, practical, and overall relatively inexpensive. I was willing to give up any luxury in buying a "chevy" brand. But, after sitting in one, and finding a comprable and softer feel than my BMW 3-series, I knew I had a great car.

Kyle, I can't recommend the CT200h. When I first drove it, I fell in love with the handling, high quality interior, technical features and luxury "brand experience", putting 54 miles a day on it became unbearable due to the "feel every crack in the asphalt" ride, road noise and LOUD drivetrain. The Volt is faster, quieter and has a much better ride. The Chevy dealer does not compare, however.

agggillli, I grew up in Greenville and my folks live in Ayden so I am out that way fairly often. Maybe not as often knowing I'll have to burn gas to get there!

I find this interesting. Before I had even thought much about the Volt, I thought my next car would be a CT200h. I thought it had a good look and I was comfortable with Lexus. It would have been an upgrade to my Prius. It bothered me that it got worse mileage than than the Prius but I thought I could deal with that. I took a test drive and was disappointed. The engine was pretty loud and seemed to be working pretty hard the whole time. I wanted to like it but couldn't. Also, a sport mode and a Prius drivetrain don't seem to go together.

The test drive in the Volt was totally the opposite.

I wouldn't worry. From all the accounts here, I think the only car that might be able to induce those regrets is a Model S.

Greatest Volt sale is one that takes back a foreign sale for a US sale. Welcome aboard. I had expectations of competing with the Prius when I bought mine. Now, not putting the Prius down since this car proved hybrids are viable, I can firmly say, there is no real comparison between the Volt efficiency, even sporty luxury, and the Prius. Great car, great purchase.
