Still own and Maintain: 2009 Focus, 2001 Durango, 1998 Mustang Convertible, 1996 Taurus , 1997 Ford Cougar
Today I left my wife take it for the first time . She went to a casino that is a 140 mile round trip so I know it will be a gas burning adventure . I told her ; what ever you do , don't put gas in it because it will take 6 months to get rid of it.
2012 Volt - Veridian Joule , Two tone Leather - placed into service 8/3/2012
2012 Volt - Summit White - Leather with Bose . placed into service 6/5/2012
Level 2 Blink EVSE , Best Charge 52.3 miles .
Best full gallon of gas - 48.8 Mpg.
I have had mine for 2 months. Since then I have:
Plasti dipped the front grill and both bow ties
Removed the ugly front license plate holder
Repaired holes with (nearly) color matched plastic buttons
Installed backup camera
Clay
I purchased the new Armor All Extreem Protection and applied it to 1/2 the back of my Volt to see how much it actualy reduces the dirt build up back there.
I live on a dirt road and even though I have a silver Volt, the back is still easealy shows all that accumilates back there.
I also was happy to note that currently there is a $10 rebate on that polish.
I also cleaned "Oppy" inside and out, which felt good.
But the lately thing was breaking two personal EV mileage records:
1) EV miles in one day: 132.7 miles, 24.7 kWh (mixed L1 and L2 charging)
2) Longest L1 "Opportunity Charge" trip (over 2 days, not enough time at each stop to ever fully charge): 186.3 miles, 34.9 kWh
Nice thing is these were trips of necessity, not choice...so with a little extra effort to find charging/stop for meals, the Volt fits my lifestyle while still operating as a "pure EV".
I left mine in the garage and rode with a friend. Radical.
8KW solar.array
96 square foot solar hot water array
Solar clothes dryer
Banned so often I should put it in my signature
Wanted to take the kids to a movie yesterday... so instead of trying to get online with the phone, we asked the car. Some time back I stumbled upon the movie listings, so we tested it, and man... Impressive. The kids were amazed.
" This car is freaking AWESOME!"
Yup. I agree.
Going to go and vaccuum the inside. For those who've plastidipped - do you remove first, or mask and spray? Want to do away with the gold on the bow tie.
2013 Silver Topaz, Leather, Premium, Safety 1.
I took took my 2013 Volt for a wash for the first time. In the 6 weeks I have this baby, I have pimped her up a little (embedded links):
- Added the missing air filter.
- Added LED light strips in front.
- Installed a fancy Korean dash cam on the front window. I can replay several days of my exiting commute in HD quality, a great way to fall asleep.
- Upgraded the interior with a little wood.
- Installed license plates and applied for a California HOV carpool sticker.
- Obtained an upgraded Nissan Leaf EVSE, for a fast Level-2 charge at work and at home. This quick portable charge allows a 95% electric drive.
- Analyzed and measured the Volts physics and regeneration efficiency (after all, I'm an electrical engineer). I am still a little mystified how it is possible that the Volt is so remarkably efficient.
- Debugged the Volt's infotainment system, compiling a list of bugs).
- Logged my likes and dislikes.
Geeking out on a 2013 white diamond Volt with pebble interior, all factory options and nearly every conceivable mod.
