Default Charge Port Door Opened During Car Wash

Hi Folks. Quick question. My Volt was going through a Car Wash today when either (1) the guy inside cleaning the dash pressed the button and opened the charge port door OR (2) the door popped open on its own. I was blaming the guy but I've done a cursory search here and it looks like there have been a few instances where the door pops open on its own during a car wash.

Fortunately, my door stayed on and seems to be in good shape. I would never have noticed anything was wrong had I not seen the door pop open through the glass with my own eyes.

My question is this: the door was open for half the wash (maybe 1-2 minutes of water/soap before it hit the dryers). Should I be concerned about potential water damage in the port? Should I dry it out in some way? I just got home and popped the charge port door and wiped out excess water. I realize a lot of you charge outside overnight even in rainstorms etc. but my Volt lives in a garage so this is the closest water has ever come to the charge port (and with no charge cord inserted into the port at the time).

Suggestions? Should I wait awhile before plugging the volt back in to make sure the port dries out?

The port should be pretty well weather/water proof.

I guess you could always stuff it with rice.

As hot as it's been in FL the last few days I'd have lunch within 15 minutes if I did!

You can leave the charge port open & let it dry out for a few hours if you want. It's designed to work in the rain... So I don't think a soak at the car wash should hurt anything.

I can not wrap my mind around letting some car wash guys into or around my Volt. Running, softened, hot and cold water, a bucket and a soft sponge works for me.
