    Default EVSE operation and faults

Anyone know why pushing the orange button makes two of the four LEDS go away? And what is the meaning of the two LEDS at the top? Yeah, I lost the pamflet long ago.

My Volt will not charge with the 110 EVSE, I'm at work with 11 miles of range and 15 miles to home. The EVSE buzzes, then clicks, and the top right LED flashes red intermittently. I thought I'd play around, so I pushed the orange button, and made two of the four group LEDs go away. Seems to want to work better that way. With all four of those present, I get a constant red right LED.

I may have to burn gas! Please help! Well... whatever...

That changes the setting to 8 amps ( two lights ) from 12 amps ( four lights )

You have issues with your wall outlet if your getting buzzing

Congratulations -- you have discovered the 8 Amp charge option vs the normal 12 Amp. This works in cases where the outlet is not capable of providing suitable power. I ran into when charging with a long 14 gauge extension cord.
unfortunately you'll only get about 2.5 - 3 mi per hour of charge.

    8A vs 12A, thanks!

I thought about the outlet being an issue, and had allready tried a different outlet with no effect.

Not that this helps much here, but now that I know that, I can set up my charge time to charge with my solar array (1400 watts) and at reduced amps. Thanks!

Find another circuit then that you know has no other loads. The blinking lights are described in section 9 of the owners manual. One is ground fault, the other is voltage out of range ... You probably have a long run with 14 awg wiring and 12 amps is causing a under voltage fault

If different plugs and circuits don't work. And it still fails to charge at 8A the it is likely a problem with the EVSE unit. I believe the top right blinking light is the ground fault. If so it sounds like the EVSE has failed.

Edit looked at the manual top right is the Ground Fault indicator. Take your EVSE and car to the dealer to get checked out.

This circuit is for electric vehicle charging only.

I've been using that plug forever at 12A and never had problems. Today I'm trying to use it at 8A and still nothing, plus I did try other outlets with no help.

Just to piss some "safety" orientated people off, I opened the EVSE and cut the 110AC output wires and added a plug I could plug into another outlet so the EVSE's signal wires would tell the car everything is OK and I'd have a direct 110AC connection to the plug.

It didn't work! Good thing I have spares!!! Just wish one were here instead of at home.

I have a few photos of the included pages that come with the charger but a better image could be added to the FAQ.

Direct connecting will cause the unit to fail self-test, it does loop-back testing of sorts on the J1772 side of the cabling.
