As for the ad itself, I love it! I hope the reaction it has received encourages GM to continue the advertising on a larger scale. Instead of a local LGBT publication it would be cool to see it run in the mainstream press. Companies either don't realize the spending power of the LGBT community or they don't care.

As for the comments, it does baffle the mind that some people still don't get it.

I feel embarrassed for people who comment on topics that they obviously know nothing about, when access to information has never been easier.

We're dealing with people who have decided in advance that everything President Obama does has to be wrong.

Never mind that the Volt and the EV tax credits were started before this president took office, the Volt just has to be bad. I'm waiting for Fox News to announce that Osama Bin Laden is alive and living with Elvis on Mars near the real Obama birthplace.

With that said, there are many lurkers for every commenter, so responding to the nonsense is a good thing.

Well, everything Obama has done is wrong, but that's a whole other topic. Fox News is different from Fox Commentary Shows, you are confusing the two. BTW, Fox NEWS is #1 for news. There is a reason why. People have overwhelmingly rejected ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and CNN. I don't see Fox planting explosives in cars or fabricating false documents, ala Dan Rather. The Fox NEWS is solid, and fair. Commentators are commentators, their job is to provoke for ratings!

I'm not totally against tax credits to propel a promising technology, it's been done for years, WAY before Obama. What is your point? Oh yea, Obama's birthplace, not the USA. Massachusetts SSN??? Where's the transparency he promised?

The politics don't matter, most don't have a clue about the Volt, and most don't understand it. Seems to me that GM failed at getting the word out.
Well, I don't think GM should waste the resources trying to reach out to people who will NEVER buy this car no matter what because of Faux News and others. They will simply carry the line and associate this car with a political cause, rather than freedom from oill and the Middle East. American dollars going overseas. Hope they're proud, including the hacks at Faux News who inspired the backlash.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but just to give you a sample - the first part of each block of social security numbers allocated from Washington was originally specific to a regional office. However, if any region runs low, they simply take a part of a block from a regional office with extra numbers.

How do I know this? My aunt was a senior manager in a regional Social Security office.

Fox could have found this out for the asking, just as they could have found out about the Volt issues for the asking. They don't want to know the truth. Our job is to post the truth about the Volt wherever we see misunderstandings or outright lies.

Ouch, here we go... The whole "where was Obama born" thing doesn't matter. Like it or not (and I am definitely in the NOT column) he is our President (or at least he is for another 6 months or so) and no one on either side will ever have enough "evidence" or "proof" that is adequate to convince the other side to change their minds. Though your point is true I would suggest you do a search on the woman who did an investigation on the numbers preceding and following Obama's SSN, kind of blows a hole in the block of numbers theory... Interesting but again, nothing will change the fact that he is our duly elected President and any objections should have come in the primary stage or even the general election. For all the "birthers" out there, good luck, I hear you, but good luck - it aint going to happen!

This is not a Fox based story, here's the facts: http://www.wnd.com/2012/07/obamas-so...er-challenged/

Isn't it odd the all the numbers in the so-called block, before and after his, were issued to Connecticut residents? So just his number was transferred to Hawaii??? Look, we both agree that Volt facts need to be challenged, no matter who is saying inaccurate

John, the problem I have with the "Al Gore invented the internet" story is that Al Gore never said that. It's what Fox New said Al Gore said. What Al Gore said was that he backed initiatives that created the internet. That was factually accurate, as attested to by the fact that Vincent Cerf, who was part of the group which did invent the internet, has said that "He (Al Gore) is indeed due some thanks and consideration for his early contributions". Fox New just ripped Gore's statement out of context and continually misquoted him a sufficient number of times so that many people started believing that Al Gore had in fact claimed to have invented the internet when he had never done any such thing.

Now the "Al Gore claimed he invented the internet" myth is relevant to this discussion because it's just another example of how Fox News does consciously distort realty and feed those distortions to its willing viewers. It has certainly done that with the Volt. And this isn't just the perceptions of liberals. Even as staunch a conservative as Bob Lutz has called out Fox for its misrepresentations and distortions concerning the Volt.http://www.forbes.com/sites/boblutz/...postmans-butt/ The misrepresentations and distortions are just facts that can't realistically be denied. If you're denying this then you need to open your eyes and take a fresh look. It's more than obvious.
