I just spoke with the dealer. Per GM they were instructed to order a new receiver. Fortunately there was a receiver module available locally. They will do their best to have it put back together in a few hours. If not, they'll give me a rental.

I suspected that the receiver may be faulty.......
2012 Tri-White metallic Volt all options except polished rims.
Traded in my 556 hp CTS-V for a car that has 400 hp less. Go figure!

The car was ready when I got to the dealership.

The remote seemed to be working yesterday and this morning. We'll see how it works this afternoon in the hot Florida sun.

Hmmm... Hadn't thought of this angle. I had begun to blame it on the recent solar flares.

I have the same issues with our garage opener. Now that you've mentioned it, we live within a mile of a certified UL-rated testing lab [that's done work on RFI and other related radio stuff] and 5 miles from the northern end of the runway of a military aircraft repair depot - that also hosts "weekend warrior" and medivac flights.

    Cheers,

Where is the antenna for the receiver in a Volt? Our 2001 Volvo uses the inside rear-view mirror.

I thought that the FOB has 2 different radios, one to operate stuff (doors, windows, etc) by pushing a button and transmitting, and the other is a low power, proximity radio that emits a low power signal all the time which is used to shake hands with the car when you try to unlock the doors and start the car.. I assume this and I may be wrong..
In case I am right, if both functions are weak, it make be the battery in the FOB, or the receiver/antenna in the car has a problem.

This is correct. The basic door locks and remote start receiver is housed within that small black box next to your rear view mirror and the security/immobilizer receiver/transmitter for the push button start is mounted to the bottom of the upper dash storage tray.

To the OP (and future viewers of this thread) there is a techncial bulletin relating to poor remote performance and/or tire pressure monitor showing === for any tire. (the RCDLR performs double duty as the receiver for the TPMS) In bulletin PIC5604 the technician is advised of a series of tests to be performed, and in failing any of those tests the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) is to be replaced.
