Meh. That reaction could be the result of having the Volt around for a while, as stuart suggests. It's telling you something about the car -- it runs on electricity -- but not why you'd care. In any event it sure beats "More Car Than Electric".

I don't really think it is a very good ad. I think it leads to the same kind of misunderstanding of the Volt that still exists today in the US -- ooooh, it's an ELECTRIC car. I think Volt ads should focus more on the concrete qualities of the Volt, and explain in clear and concrete terms how it runs 35-40 miles on electricity alone, and then seamlessly switches to hybrid mode for unlimited range. I am constantly amazed at how many friends I still talk to that have no idea of how the Volt works.
An example of what a good ad would be is the site that comes up if you scan the window applique that comes with the Volt welcome kit.
