When you use the term drop ship, that means the car will ship from the factory directly to you, which will never happen. It must go to a Chevy dealer for the PDI before you can pick it up. It's GM's policy. No way around it. If you mean to say that you are purchasing a Volt from a dealer's inventory, then yes, they can ship the car directly to your door as it has already been prepped and checked from the factory. I have done it both ways.

If you order a car from an out of state dealer or a dealer not in your local area and they put your order in with the factory, they can opt to have the vehicle drop shipped to a dealer in your area and you can then have a courtesy delivery done by the dealer in your area. I am thinking you meant to say that you are going to purchase a vehicle from the dealer's inventory and they are going to ship it directly to you.

You had your car "shipped" to you. "Drop shipping" means that you pay one company (that doesn't make the item) and another one (the one that makes it) ships it to you.

Does a dealer need to do any set-up on computers, or any other things? I really don't care about a full charge, or tank of gas. Are the Volts "Plug & Play"
directly from Hamtramck???? Thanks for any input...
The only time i have heard this term was an offer from Stingray in Plant City Florida, but the details were the car will be delivered to a dealer of your choice, not your home. So you get the super low stingray pricing, and don't have to deal with any additional shipping prices. The dealer its shipped to will do the standard customer delivery prep, or so explained Stingray

What "salesman" and what dealer did you discuss this with?

Yes, The dealer I spoke with was Stingray. I will have the Volt shipped to a dealer near me to be delivered. None of the dealers here will come close to Stingrays prices, as they will not hit their quota.

I wouldn't be concerned about purchasing from them, Stringray is proven dealer and we have had no complaints on them living up to there agreements. My personal belief is Stringray is starting a new trend with this.
