Default High Voltage Battery measurements: VICM vs HCP

Using the DashDAQ, there are two high voltage battery current and voltage measurements. One is VICM, which I believe is the vehicle integration or interface control module, and one is the HCP. Can anyone tell me what each of these is and the difference between them?

And while I'm on the topic, I'll also throw in ECM. Can anyone explain this to me?

    Thanks!

I don't know the answer to your question exactly but wanted to make you aware that you can use google site keyword to do searches (does not work at all sites but this one it works well). You may have done that already because one hit shows: VICM (vehicle integration or interface control module)

ie. use this as a google search -- site:gm-volt.com VICM

I see it is mentioned in a post at chevroletvoltage.com

I have checked (I was pretty determined to find this answer on my own) and have only seen the acronyms mentioned in posts, no explanations. And yes, I did find the "VICM (vehicle integration or interface control module)" that way.

I actually just used the forum search tool, so it's nice to know that the google site search works so well. That's much more efficient!

There difference is basically where the high voltage measurement is being measured.
The HCP (Hybrid Control Processor) is also known as the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 1 (HPCM1) and is located internal to the Power Inverter Module under the hood. Voltage measurements here would represent the "end of the line" so to speak. (only present when certain contactors are closed, subject to precharge resistances, etc etc)

The VICM (Vehicle Integration Control Module) is also known as the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2 and is located under the front passenger seat. It actually receives its high voltage information from the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) which is located inside the battery box. This voltage measurement represents the "source" of all high voltage power.

I have been planning to write up a front page techncial article on the Volt's extensive network topology interlinking some ~35 control modules for some time now. I finally will take some vacation time at the end of the month and perhaps I will get to it then.
There seems to be a fair amount of interest.

    Thanks, WOT!

An article on the network topology would be great!
