    Smile ON Star Experience

I just had a blow out on my Volt and had a very good experience with ON star. From the time I pushed the ON star button it was about 45 minutes before the tow truck was there to pick up my car.

I thought they would just tow it to the dealer and drop it off. The ON star adviser told me that it would be stored over night and then taken to the dealer ship first thing in the morning. I am not sure the reason for that but I appreciate the concern for the car.

It was kind of funny when the driver of the tow truck asked me how to start the car. He had apparently pushed the silver button to pop the key out on the fob but then didn't know what to do with it. I just hope he get's it there all in one piece.

So sorry to hear about your blowout. Not a good thing to have happen. Anyway, glad to hear OnStar managed to help you out. I've been impressed with OnStar, considerably more impressed than I thought I'd be.

When it looked like my Volt would need to be towed, a supervisor came out. He had been trained on the Volt. Hopefully, they'll all be trained.

OK, this is one of the few areas of the Volt that makes me unhappy.

You had a blow out, I hope all were safe and not while in motion. A highway blow out is not fun. Don't you normally just change your tire and go on about your business? ...Replace or repair your tire later. It was Sunday, but most other days you could have been on your way to work or to an appointment, the hospital, etc. I really would want a donut spare or something. I understand that is a personal option, but there is not a place to store it properly!!

It kind of rubs me the wrong way to be saving up my pennies after all my medical bills for a $40K car and no place for a spare...

So what happened after the tow truck pulled away? Did you just catch a cab home and cancel the rest of your day? Do you have multiple cars waiting at home?

What are your experiences with full blown out tires?
    Thanks.

I had a ride and was able to use my one of my sons cars. ON Star did ask if I need transportation and I declined.

I was driving about 50 mph on a 2 lane country road and it was raining. I was very pleased with how the car handled. Slowed down and pulled into a drive way.

I am curious on who will have to cover the cost of the repair. I know the tow was covered. Tire should be under Good Year warranty. But what If I need a rim or anything else.

    update:
The dealer (Sutherland Chevrolet) covered the tire. Which I am very grateful for. Other than being without my Volt this was a very impressive experience.
