    Default Parking sensor wouldn't stop

This afternoon I backed out of my garage. The front parking sensor was on solid when I started, which is not unusual, but it never stopped. Even when I was out of the garage it was still solid. I thought maybe I'd dragged out a cardboard box or something so I got out to look, but there was nothing. I turned off the parking sensors but the solid beep persisted. I turned off the car and the solid beep kept going!
I'm not sure how I got it to stop. I restarted the car once or twice, got out, and eventually the beeping stopped as I closed the driver door.
When I returned, I turned on the sensor in the garage. It seemed to be working ok, perhaps a bit premature about turning from beep-beep to solid beep, but it responded when I turned it off.
Anyone else have this experience or an explanation?

This happened to me exactly once, a few days ago. I still don't understand it, but I went through most of the same things (was really surprised when turning off the car didn't help!) It shut off after about a minute? Disturbing, for sure. :-/

It was the same sort of thing - a legitimate solid tone at the front that I backed away from but the sound didn't stop.

I've had this happen once, too. I think I powered down the car and opened the driver's door to get it to stop.

I've had that happen twice. But both times it went off after about a minute. Very annoying.

Wow. Funny the same thing happened to me for the first time today. Backed out and it just kept going. I put it in drive and then hit the button to turn off the sensors and it went on for a few seconds then finally turned off. Very odd.

I think it happened to me once a few months ago. Not exactly sure but I think I cleared it by powering the car off and then on again. It might have been a couple of times. I don't have a great idea because the noise so threw me off and I couldn't figure out what the issue was.

Your thread indicates that it was your rear sensor. Mine was the front, and sometimes I'm parked close enough to trigger the solid tone, so that's why I didn't think it was unusual. Were you parked close enough to legitimately trigger a rear warning tone?

Also, this morning mine definitely didn't go from solid tone to beeping until I was eight or ten feet back from the wall, so I suspect it's gone out of calibration or something.

This happened to me w/ my rear sensors last week. They started correctly but didn't stop once the obstacle was gone. Pulled over, shut off car, cleaned off sensors, started back up and no noise.

I wondered if maybe some insect remains have clogged one of the front sensors, and that would also explain why mine now seems to be miscalibrated and why the rear sensors have been less troublesome for others.

But why would that cause the tone to persist after the warning system and even the whole car has been turned off?
