Default OK, I'm official! 2012 White Diamond Volt!

Hello everyone! My first post here was over in the leasing area (making sure I didn't get fleeced on my lease) but now that I'm officially a Volt owner I figured I would post here to say "HI" to everyone!

I'm so excited about this car and I'm so happy that *I* won't be buying any more supercars for the Saudi Royals!

Congrats! Welcome. Lots to learn here - the Volt is surprisingly different from other cars, for all the GM has taken pains to ensure you can just get in and drive it (and you can.) You may want to consider joining Voltstats.net. A member here wrote it - it uses OnStar to automatically pull trip information from the car; with over 1200 cars on it, we also get some insight into what's "normal" in the real world.

I have seen a few posts about that but when I went to sign up it wants my login info? How safe is this?

Its safe, any vehicle actions require a pin number so all that can be retrieved is car status with the onStar info

OK, I joined! That's pretty cool to look at the US map of all of the Volt owners! I'm suprised to see the cluster of people in the Mid Atlantic region! Good stuff, thanks for the tip!

That's why I always say "consider" or "look into" - don't want to push anyone into things they aren't comfortable with. It has to use your OnStar login to get information - but the website only stores it in "salted hash" encrypted form (theoretically reconstructable with a supercomputer given enough time, but not otherwise without the site's encryption keys,) and doesn't have your PIN, which is the only way to lock or unlock (or remote start) the car. I don't feel it's a significant risk, but don't want to make the decision for people.

I'm a little shocked that I am the only one in the Richmond, VA area on this voltstats map! Holy crap! I'm wondering if I am the only person who owns one around here? I can say I have never seen one on the road...perhaps I will be a trendsetter...lol!

You'll be pleased to know that you have the coolest, most coveted color Volt. Some folks with Diamond White envy call us snobs but don't believe a word of. We're just folks who don't have all of our taste in our mouths. (Just kidding guys :-))

Congrats to another White Diamond Virginia Volt!. This is the coolest car I have ever driven. You might want to check into a level 2 charger. Dominion Power also has a Time of Use program for EVs that you might want to check out as well.
