    Default Rods & Roses 2012

Today I displayed Volt 555 at the 15th Annual Rods & Roses Car Show. My son was with me as usual. Last year I had about 150 people come up to talk about the Volt. This year we had about 40. The good news is that 2 people were very impressed and heading to buy one. The not so good news is that 1 in 4 people asked if it had caught on fire yet.
I calmly went through the details of "the fire" indecent. Most there thought the media had over blown the side impact test event.
Anyway, it was a great day with sunny conditions. The quality of the vehicles on display is getting better year by year. Volt 555 was clean down to the wheel wells. I used Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax on the outside. Ultimate Detailer on the inside. And Stoners window cleaner on the glass. I won't be displaying 555 next Rods & Roses. As the local Chevy dealer has 3 for sale on the lot.

Hope you enjoy the photos. It's a pleasure being an ambassador for the Volt.

Here is a slideshow of the event:

That Volt fire issue which was mostly used by Fox news as Rightwing propaganda will take time to go away from minds of folks ...sad that it still lingers on.. What a travesty that a US media outlet makes hay out of an issue based on politics ...

Nice Pics where was it held?

The event takes over Linden Avenue in Carpinteria, California. Carpinteria is just South of Santa Barbara.

If you're able to spend a few days in the Santa Barbara area. I suggest taking in the Car Show in Carpinteria and the Sparkle fireworks display at Santa Barbara harbor. Sunny days and 75 degrees. The stalls for displaying vehicles were sold out a month ago. Hope to see an expanded event next year.

Were these people that asked being serious or just a$$es? What did the ones that didn't think the media had over blown the issue say?

I often use that as a jumping off point for further discussion, along the lines of "well, what *else* do you know about the Volt?", and then talk about the 5 star safety rating, real-world EV range, MPGcs after that, total cost of ownership, etc. As early adopters, we are all Volt Ambassadors.

I'm not sure why people are so resistant to new technology. Based on current trends it won't be too long before every new car on the road is going to be using some form of EV assist, from mild hybrid, to full BEV.

A lot of people are scared of change, or anything new.and speaking of new
If you haven't tried Extreme Shield car wax by Armor All you should, it's quite good.
very quick on, off (does not leave car smooth) but does leave a very wet look finish, and nothing, not even dust, sticks to it.
New patented formula, really works great, and in all my years of waxing cars this seems to be the best.

Yes, I mentioned 5 star safety and top speed 100mph. And that I have reasonable insurance premiums. ”Were they serious, or jerks?”. Of the bashers... I feel most simply wanted to get a dig in. Although one continued to expound with, ”Never make your money back”.

The bottom line is that people are parking Volts in their garage. Pride and satisfaction remain high. The ELR lurks.
