Default Just pre-ordered a 2013 Volt in Colorado

    Hey there,

So I've wanted a Volt since I saw the concept art. But when it finally hit, my Escape Hybrid was only a few years old. I had to be patient.

My Escape will be falling out of its battery warranty next year, so I figured I'd better get proactive.

My company has a 2012 Volt as a fleet vehicle, so I've been able to drive it around. I'm really impressed. I'd seen the ads and the forum posts about a zillion mpg, and have seen it myself now.

So an hour ago, I went in and plopped down a deposit.

So hopefully in under 60 days, I will stop buying gasoline forever.

    Woohoo!

Congrants and welcome. What Color -- the racer red, the blushing blue, wonderful white, bold black?

There is a Colorado volt's group on voltstats.net.. as you can see there we have a wide-range of usage. While the Volt its great, its still have to be totally gas free.. things are far apart and up/down here. Part of why the Volt is so great for us..

I presume you know about the 6k Colorado Tax Credit (in addition to the Fex 7.5K)

    Enjoy

That's exciting stuff. Congrats on the car and welcome to the forum. You might have to buy gas every once in a while!

I certainly do know about the tax credits. It's the first time I've been looking forward to tax time ever.

I have a 6.6 mile commute each way, and work at a place with chargers. So I should be able to skip out on gas unless I drive it to Nebraska for some reason. But even a trip to an Avs game and back should be gas-free. So I'm just ecstatic. I'm also keeping the Escape Hybrid for the 30 bad weather days a year we get.

I've ordered Cyber Gray, dark interior, black leather. So it will be a hot car in this sunlight, but none of the other colors jumped at me. I wish they had a deep forest green or something, but this'll do nicely. I had a black car in the past, so I'm familiar with what I'm getting into.

I went with nearly every one of the upgrades except for the nav system. I know where the mountains are, so I'm set.

I've been reading the volt stats site for a while, so I need to finally sign up.

    Thanks for the welcome.

What dealership to you order at? Did you get a good deal? How where you treated?

I went to an unnamed dealership in Broomfield yesterday and it was a terrible experience. I made an appointment to see a Volt early in the day and when I got there to test drive it, the battery was completely depleted. And they played all the old school dealership games.

    SNIP

Once you get the car, if you do your planning to make sure you are on target you can adjust deductions to start collecting both tax credits now.. a little bit per paycheck..

Century off of 120th, west of Sheridan. The sales person I worked with was nice. He started like every other cars salesman ever, but learned quickly that I knew precisely what I wanted. It went from "what will it take to put you in a car today" to "oh, you're going to buy a car today." The sales push ended, and it was much more relaxed.

They tried to put a 2012 in front of me, but they couldn't find the one I wanted. When he saw how fast I declined each one, he stopped trying to shoehorn something in, and we went right over and started configuring the 2013. It wasn't a "Are you SURE you need that color?" So that was nice.

The place is kinda dumpy, but I also chose them because they're not a huge dealership. I'd like to support a smaller place. The normal stuff, worn furniture, remnants of sales banners, TINY offices.

There isn't a lot of room to haggle on a new car, that you pick the options specifically, but the price is exactly what I was prepared to pay. It's not like when I bought my Escape, and the dealers in Colorado tried to overcharge by 3-5k.

It was kind of funny, he said let's hop in the Volt, and go look at something, so we did. He asked if I had any questions, and had him confirm a few things. But I have been reading about the Volt for years, so I was ready to roll. We only drove it around the block since I'd already put 50+ miles on the Volt I have at work. No convincing required.

This was almost certainly the easiest sale they've ever had.

Ironically, that is the place I had the bad experience last evening.

A lot of little things that really turned me off at that store.

By ordering you also avoided all the other "dealer installed" options that they had on the 2 Volts on their lot. Over $1500 worth of BS options added to the price.

If I was not an avid follower, with experience with the Volt, my experience would have sucked.

The charge on the test drive was pretty low. They charge with a standard plug run through the doors and inside.

I went in starry-eyed, but prepared, so I missed out on some of the stuff you ran into.

There are dealers you can order today from that will do 2500 under invoice and drop ship the car to you ... that's over 4K under MSRP. If you want to "support" you local dealer that's one thing, but to say there is no room to haggle is false
