    Default Malfunctioning Center Console Display

BLUF: My center display is not working. It looks like it is an X-Wing star fighter getting jammed by an imperial Star Destroyer. It is either a bunch of jumbled lines, or solid white, or completely blank.

I live in El Paso, Tx where it is 112 degrees. I notice that the car only does this during the day. In the morning or at night it hasn't done it. Or if it is wonky and I drive it for awhile and it gets cooler it starts to work fine again. I am pretty certain it has something to do with the heat. I am taking it in to the dealership on monday to have it looked at, but I was wondering if anybody else who lived in a really high temperature environment is having this problem.

The bottom line is if the car won't work right because of intense heat making it malfunction I will have to get it replaced under the lemon law act which sucks cause I love my Volt. However, having a car that is basically a vampire that can't work in the sunlight is pretty unfeasible.

I think someone else reported something like this. In their case it went away and didn't reappear. Worst case it's a connection issue that doesn't reappear. Best case it will and they'd find the cause. Keep us posted.

No issues here in Arizona where 112 is normal from June through Sept. I don't think you are experiencing a design flaw, more than likely a component quality issue which can be fixed with replacement of the bad actor.

My car did this exact thing, once, when going around a corner. Hasn't reoccurred but the backlighting on the center stack flickers lightly.

Dealer "could not duplicate" or some such. Oh well.

My mind couldn't help but read the first sentence of your initial post with Archer's voice, haha. Nice choice of avatar and forum name. My FB avatar used to be an Archer pic, love that show.

I had an issue with my center display not turning on at all. It went away after a few hours and has never happened again.

I would venture to guess, you either have a faulty LCD screen, or a poor connection somewhere. The dealer will probably have to pull it out of the dash and check all the connections, but it should be covered under warranty.
