Anyone know how to find out how many green sticker are left?
I want to send in my application, but I don't have a plate number yet. Kills me having to wait.

You can sit down, put your feet up, pop a beer, and relax. There are something like 40K available and we probably haven't gotten to 5K. You will definitely get an HOV sticker. The CARB rebate would be a larger issue I'd think.
According to the DMV, only 1,400 out of 40,000 stickers have been issued as of June 1, 2012. I am waiting on a 2013 Volt and was worried about the number available until I saw this posted on the official website. Seems like we have nothing to worry about.

There are currently only three green sticker-eligible cars (Volt, plug-in Prius, Fisker Karma) and they are all low-volume. We should be fine for a while.

I swear I've seen them in the carpool lane with a sticker (on 85). But you are correct - they do not quality, per the CARB web site. That's pretty lame since the plug-in Prius qualifies and that's a pretty half-assed solution IMHO.
The Fiskers I saw must have had 2 occupants in 'em.
Ok, so TWO cars quality at the moment. My point stands that there should be plenty of stickers for the foreseeable future.
I saw my first Tesla Model S on the road this morning - that car is gorgeous. Way nicer fit-n-finish wise than the prototypes I've also seen floating around in Palo Alto.
