Why? My house is only 3 miles from the grocery store.

Ok, for example: On the weekend you drive the kids to soccer in the morning which burns through 20 miles. You stop for lunch (-5) and can charge at 6.6 (+20) while you're eating. Then you drive home (-20) plug in for 30 minutes (+10) then leave for errands (-25) and grocery shopping (+20) and you're home using no gas. That's easily accomplished on a Saturday here. Or, you drive to work (-20) go to lunch (-10) charge at their EVSE (+20) and make it home using no gas.

It may not work for you, you may drive way less or whatever. But, it'd work great for a lot of us. The lack of a 6.6+ is why we're not buying a 2nd Volt.

Sounds like you need a different EV with more range. Fortunately there are several choices:

    Ford Focus EV.

    Nissan Leaf EV.

    Mitsubishi MiEV EV.

    Tesla Model S EV.

ROFL, why try to pick a fight?

Yes, we will spend our money with another manufacturer because of the lack of 6.6 + on the Volt.

I can't find any fast chargers to plug into here in Phoenix, AZ, so I wouldn't be able to take advantage. I already have a 220V charger at home.

No sense paying for something I can't use....

Maybe your right and I should just terminate my lease on the grounds that the current Volt model is not meeting performance expectations and trade up to a Ford.

You posted this yesterday and I posted a link to one website that lists chargers that are all over Phoenix. http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread....538#post161538

They may not be Blink, and require a different card or cost something, but there's lots. Then check other city's and states. L2 is everywhere - except Jax where there's only one L2 station in a city of 821K people, the 12th biggest in the country
You have tons of choices, some are free, some are pay per use, but you have tons of choices.

Cord, I think you are confusing EVSE charging stations and the actual charger that is built in to the vehicle.

Huh? First off, there are many Blink stations in the PHX area. Over 200.

Second, the charge rate is a combination of the output voltage and the max rate the onboard charger will support. So using a 240V station, a Leaf (since it has a 6.6kW charger) will recoup twice the range of a Volt (with its 3.3 kW charger) in an hour.

So, yes, having a 6.6 kW charger will make a difference.

This is what I was saying yesterday....

It looks like there are a lot of pure BEV enthusiasts that "really" wanted a pure BEV, but bought a Volt. Now they want the Volt to do everything a pure BEV does...

GM put a generator in the Volt to deal with long charge times and short range. BEV makers put in fast charging to deal with this issue.

Now we are asking GM to add fast charging so we don't have to use that expensive generator they put in.
