There's been lots of talk about faster chargers and I thought it was time to figure out where Volt forum members stood.

The Volt comes with a 3.3 on-board charger that charges the Volt at a max speed of 10MPHC, so it takes 4 hours to charge a dead battery. The Ford Focus EV and 2013 Leaf will have 6.6 chargers that charge at 20MPHC so with a 6.6 on the Volt it could be charged in 2 hours. BMW is using a 7 which should be a bit faster still and there's a few cars that charge at 10 which would be 30MPHC. I should add that these faster speeds are still using 220V (they're not L3 DC). Also, in order to increase speed you need more power and better wiring, which is a concern for homeowners. But, charging stations have reported they're charging at a rate based on faster chargers so 3.3 cars are not getting their money's worth.

So, back to the poll. I'm curious how many folks would prefer a 6.6 or faster charger on their Volt. The poll is just regarding the costs for the car. I'm capping the new car cost at $1,000. I'm also curious how many current owners would install it in their current Volt if possible.

1 no way, 3.3 and gas
2 free
3 $500
4 $1000
5 if it was part of the premium package I'd help me pick that package
6 I'd add it if it was free
7 I'd add a faster charger to my current Volt if it was around $500-1,000
