EV only mode "Brag Light" on rear

I think it would be cool for the Volt to have a lighted Volt logo on the back when the car is in EV only mode. The car would be bragging to all of the other cars that it is in EV mode and not currently consuming any gas.

I know this requires some electricity but a single LED on the rear trunk illuminating a little lightening bolt would be cool. It would tell the world and all of the other drivers that you just passed them without using gas! It would also help separate the Volt from the wanna-bees like the Prius. What do you think?

Then they would make the HYBRID lettering even more prominent on the next prius. Not a bad idea though.

I like the concept. It would be like a rolling billboard of your (lack of) consumption as you drive by. It really wouldn't be that difficult as any networked module in that rear zone would "know" when you would be operating in EV mode and could toggle a circuit to trigger a low consumption LED circuit. Only thing is, it might be only YOU and other Volt owners what it really meant!

Don't mean to crash your guys' party, but I think this is an awful idea. I already find Prius drivers obnoxious enough with their yellow carpool stickers. I think a simple, subtle "Range-Extended Electric Vehicle" badge on the trunk would suffice. If you want to back-light it at night, fine, but a screaming, obnoxious LED sign on the back would just increase the negative stereotypes of hybrid drivers, in my opinion.

Although if I do end up buying a Volt, I do think I might invest a buck or two in a "Made in the U.S.A." bumper sticker.

I think this would make a nice after-market hack. I'm not sure everyone likes their car bragging for them.
