    Default California Rebate

I was reading up on the California rebate and found something interesting. I was under the impression that the Volt has an 8yr/100K warranty on the battery and voltec components. In this PDF from the CA EPA, in order to qualify as a PHEV and get the 1500 rebate, the vehicle must have "a 10 yr/150K warranty on the zero emission energy storage system" (bullet 4, page 1). Any back story or thoughts on this?

I believe the CA emissions package (code PCV) includes a bump in the battery warranty. The CA emissions volt is 100% eligible for the $1500 credit (my credit was approved and should be in the mail!).

Awesome. I knew there had to be some logical explanation for the discrepancy. Thanks!

The warranty with the emissions package is 15 year / 150,000 miles on the emissions control systems + 10 years / 150,000 miles on the batteries + 3 year / 36,000 bumper to bumper + 5 year / 100,000 mile power train on the gas generator + 8 year / 100,000 miles for Voltech parts (electric engine) + 6 year / 100,000 corrosion protection + 5 year / 100,000 mile roadside assistance + OnStar premium package for 3 years / 36,000

All Volts are ULEV or Ultra Low Emission Vehicles. These aren't eligible for the CARB rebate. Newer Volts sold in CA have some changes in the emission system and come with the longer warranty. These are classified as AT-PZEV or Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicles. These qualify for the rebate. Depending on what Volt you buy you get either the 8yr or the 10yr battery warranty.

Yeah, CARB is dictating the warranty in order to give the certification for the carpool lane. CARB obviously has their own Al Armendariz.

The Chevy website just confused me a little. The warranty section lists the 8yr/100K warranty. Seems Chevy could geo locate my ip address change it to 10Y/150K. There is not even an asterisk to indicate that there might be an alternative warranty for CA drivers or different models. Wouldn't you want to show the longer warranty to your customers? Thanks again everyone.
