Default If you had the battery enhancement done recently, the grease and/or coolant can land

on a hot part. May clear up soon, but if its' the grease, that stays quite awhile. Warning though, if you get a service engine soon light, it's tied in with that. Take it in. My whole system shorted out due to a bad battery enhancement job. 3 weeks in the shop.

The cooland got into the electrical system when they take apart the hoses for the battery coolant. Turned very serious, but thankfully under warranty. Yes, the smoky, not oil but a burning fluid kind of smell. That's when the nightmare began.

I'm leaning toward the stinky hvac system since my enhancement was performed at the factory while in production.

That may be a better description of the smell...burning fluid kind of smell....not quite electrical but not a paper or wood kind of smoky. And definitely not a mildew or mold smell. I have tried all the suggestions posted...fan only the last few minutes before shutdown, etc and nothing had an effect until I did not plug in last night. This morning air was fresh and clean smelling. Has to be related to the charging process...and yes the 8 day battery enhancement was completed a few weeks back.

Sounds like typical water condensation in your air-conditioning evaporator allowing mold to grow. All cars do it. You might want to have the dealer check that the drain hose is not plugged. If you live in a humid climate this is pretty normal for most cars.

I understand you had a very serious issue... But... I think your experience is extremely rare. (Like you might be the only one who ever had this happen.) This is not a case of thousands of Volts sprouting leaks. It's just not a common problem.

BBDAD if you are concerned about this issue then you might want to take it to your dealer and let them inspect it. If the check engine light comes on... Take it to a dealer right away.

Well it's just turned 3500 miles so I figured tire rotation and oil change (1st one is free anyway). Made service appt for Monday am. I just dread the..."we couldn't duplicate the problem" response, but at least it will go on the record in case of problems down the road. I think I will take it in almost discharged completely and ask them to plug her up and then check it.
