    Default Dual Voltage!

My wife picked up her new Black 2012 Volt last night making us a 2 Volt household (in series).

I will try to post some pics tomorrow.

    Back-story (pun):

Shortly after welcoming our first child, my wife and I decided that we needed a bigger vehicle. As a present, we decided to spring for a fully loaded Acura RDX, a nice compromise between the sporty Accord which was our one and only car, and the mini-van we were both trying to avoid. Now my wife had some major back problems resulting from her pregnancy and delivery, so after returning to work it was little surprise that her back started acting up during her long commutes and days at the office, but it kept getting worse.

After 2 years it reached a point where she could no longer function after returning home, frequent trips to the chiropractor were making a big difference, but the commute would always cause her pain after a few days. Finally we decided that it might be the car, so she took my Volt to work for a week.... and no pain.

This sealed the deal, so (not jumping to any conclusions) we test drove pretty much every high end luxury car we could find, and even some others, and all of them either hurt her back, or were super padded luxury boats that she didn't like (Lexus in particular needs to clean up its act). So in the end we decided on a Volt (I was ecstatic thinking about 400 dollars per month in fuel savings, she cried cause its a Chevy).

She loves the car, but 'Chevy' just doesn't have the 'ooohh' factor around the office. Chevy has been doing a great job in restoring their image the last few years, but they have a long way to go.... some really bad dealers (not mine though)... and could use a little 'upscaling' to their service departments etc. Fingers crossed.

Of course, my 3 month old Volt has been kicked to the driveway to make room for the 'new' one.

(oops, this ended up in News and Events instead of owners)

The percentage of Volt owners that have 2 in the garage compared to the total number of volts sold has got to be near the top compares with all other cars. I suspect the Civic is at the top.

You need to get a bumper sticker or license plate frame "My Other Car Is Also A Volt"

I ripped this off from Douglas Adams book "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" where one of the characters had a bumper sticker stating a similar line on his Porsche.

Will you have a second L2 charger?

    I don't even have a 'first' L2 charger.

So far I have been doing the overnight charge off the 120v, which has been fine. Unfortunately in Ontario there are no programs or incentives towards home charging stations, so I have been holding off.

Hang on hang on... Didn't Neil Cavuto say that EVs will cause divorces when the partner doesn't plug-in? And now, the partner is getting their own Volt in this case?? What is going on out there - I guess pundits have very little leg to stand on (meaning, Neil must be quite short) Now, the OP is in Ontario and Fox News is not allowed due to opinion not being news so they are protected from the viatrol)

Congrats on the 2nd Volt! That's great news. !

And the Ooo factor around the office is something we all should have left behind after leaving high school

I have a cost spreadsheet I keep on my playbook for just that purpose. (Ok, that sounded more boring than it actually is)

The Ontario government is "investigating" incentives for home charges and charging stations but who knows when that will happen.

That's good to hear. I keep hoping they will come out with something.
