The update is $160 but that's a lot less than Toyota's $450. I bought the latest update and a major freeway intersection is now handled properly. I haven't checked another big error in the old version.

BTW, there is a site where you can report errors. Let me know if you're interested.

We have a lot of canals here in south Florida, and a few times the NAV has taken me to an address that was on the opposite side of a canal or a berm. But, it was not only the Volt's NAV system to do that, just recently my phone's NAV app showed me in the exact same spot for the destination as the Volt did...on the wrong side of a canal !

Hold everything! I've owned this car for 3 months and have to cough up cash to update??!! I really do not want to be a pain, but this just does not seem quite right.

I've owned the car for over a year and haven't paid for an update. I haven't needed one. But my area is pretty settled (only a few cornfields) unless I visit my in-laws where it's mostly corn and soy fields. Maybe switch to soybeans and you wont end up in cornfields

I suppose when the 2013 disc is out... There is some road renumbering and construction here that would be nice to have reflected in the maps. I haven't noticed too many gaps in my 2012 and have been quite pleasantly surprised that the POI I've looked for were in there and almost always on the right side of the street.

GM needs to add charging stations to the NAV, we need those far more than gas stations.

As far as Florida canals and destinations across, didn't you guys get the Everglades hovercraft option on yer Volt? What's the worst that could happen, a gator taking a bite?

Default PLease replace the Navigation system.

I personally think that the Navigation system in the Volt, with it voice command, is about the worst I’ve ever used. It is so bad that when I travel I still use my old Garman GPS. GM does have a much BETTER system in their hands. It’s called CUE and will be available in Cadillac’s. I think this should be in the next version of the Volt 2013 or 2014. GM are you listening? Take a look at the CUE in the link.

And it has a QWERTY keyboard.

Your wish is granted. We don't know much about it yet, but the 2013 Nav system is completely different from the 2012 (actually a much cheaper option,) and is compatible with MyLink (which I believe is standard on 2013s.)

I had the situation where I thought I was ordering my 2012 with the navigation system. When it showed up and there was no navigation system, I was actually disappointed for awhile (and became more disappointed when GM made it clear that 2012s without MyLink would no be upgradeable). However, I've come to be glad I didn't waste the money. Between the turn-by-turn offered through OnStar and my iPhone (I use Waze most of the time), I haven't missed it.
