Cool All Is Well With My Neighbor's Volt Cept Has Lost AM/ FM

    Greetings all,

The picture taken below, from 6 weeks ago says it all-

My next door neighbor bought this stunning Volt from me. I try and know it all...but. . . . .

They have an issue now that I have never seen before.... Am/Fm radio feed is gone. Not a big deal but as sharp as our Sundance BEST Volt Tech is, and I have great confidence in him, he has not run across this mild situation before. I will have the customer bring the car in Friday, however, if anyone has an inside angle as to the workaround for "No Am/Fm signal. Note that there are no messages or other, just no sound.

    XM/Sirus works, Cd Works.....

Any thoughts would be helpful before I have them bring their Volt in.....

    Best..............Thomas J. Thias

My first guess would be a disconnect of the AM/FM antenna. Its totally separate from the XM antenna.

    Bingo!
This condition hasnt really changed since the old-school days.
8-track or cassette playback only? check the antenna!
(more than likely just a coax cable connection issue, possibly the antenna, worst case the radio but not very likely)
Your tech will figure it out

Make sure the antenna is on the car. Could have been broken in a car wash, happened to me. If antenna is there make sure it is making contact with the base, as it is a screw on device. Use another antenna. If all that does not work then it is the radio its self.

Most likely the antenna has a bad connection somewhere along the line. A friend of mine lost her radio (completely different car); all i did was look underneath the passenger side dash and I could see the cable hanging. Just found the other end and plugged it in, and presto! it worked again. AM/FM radios havent changed much.

    This is excellent!
If the coax is still connected it may be the AM/FM amplifier at the base of the antenna, or it not receiving power.
