the amazing thing is you broke even on the pickup. must really be farm country. mine hasn't had much rubbernecking. maybe because a blue one looks vanilla while under dirt.

In "Rust country" which I deem the majority of western NY (anything NW of NYC), there are a plethora of rusted out trucks on the road. In some places, pickup trucks outnumber cars in parking lots around workplaces in Binghampton NY, Syracuse, Rochester, etc. Not as much rust in my area of SE PA as their road treatments have moved from salt to liquids of some type that they put down before it snows and then cinders after that. But up in WNY, rusted cars are everywhere, even some in the 5-year old range. There used to be a lot of ziebart and rusty jones type treatment shops around where they could fill your quarterpanels and doors with goop that kept the rust at bay.
I spoke to a guy at a local old-car meet-up last Thursday who had a fantastic 1979 Camaro fully restored to factory paint. He said the doors were "full" of rusty jones treatment. The car was amazing - original block motor with a lot of new stuff added on top. The factory paint was found under another paint-job on top of it which he sanded and buffed off.
