Welcome from another new DFW owner! We traded in a 300hp gas guzzling sports sedan and the Volt is a fun drive, albeit not as zippy but still enough for flat and straight suburban roads.

Two weeks ago , I traded our 270hp Cadillac sports sedan for a 2012 Volt . I've used 1.8 gallons of gas in 500 miles . I bought mine in Grapevine , TX .

    Congratulations:
I'm the only Volt Owner in Texas (maybe the entire planet) who uses a Volt to commute between farms. Seriously, see my Volt and my new 240 SPX Xpress Quick Charger (highly recommended) on my Flickr account... http://www.flickr.com/photos/southwestusa/7434968978/
If you are ever near Abilene, Texas--- let me know and I'll be happy to show you my 240 SPX charger. Today, it fully charged my Volt in 3 hours flat after driving it from "Farm A" in Runnels County, Texas to "Farm B" in Taylor County, Texas... which is a 46 mile commute.

Everything else I own (a Cessna, two tractors, two vans, a Silverado 2500HD 4x4 and a Jetta TDI) are so fuel-intensive (except the Jetta diesel) that I was feeling guilty of making OPEC rich... and now I thumb my nose at gas stations. I haven't stopped at a gas station yet... such a hoot.

Good luck and stop by for a show and tell of the SPX X-press quick charger.
15,000 miles 1st year, never-EVER bought gas. 225 all electric miles in one day, A gazillion MPG, no kidding http://www.voltstats.net/Stats/Details/1791

I'm actually looking to purchase a Volt. I commute about 50 miles per day from Keller to Las Colinas / Irving. My route typically consist of stop and go traffic (rush hour). What kind of mileage are you other DFW drivers getting? Also I went to the bankston dealership and had a pretty bad experience. I'm thinking of going to look at Classic in Grapevine tomorrow.

My Dallas trips are 20 round trip miles -stop and go 30 mph average with max 45 mph --with temp 80 to 95 and No A/C I get home with 30 miles range left.

With the temp this week now 102+ the car is using cooling on the battery as I park in the direct sun and I have it in ECO for part of the trip the miles left is starting to drop. When driving under 50 mph I have all 4 windows open.

Plus it helps to have Hypothyroidism in Texas -And heated seats in winter- :-)

I am getting 45 mile range on battery. My commute is 45 miles round trip. Sometimes I make it, sometimes the engine kicks in. Now the silly temperatures are on us I am interested to see how the mileage works out.

I went to Huffines in Plano for my purchase and they did very well. They have a few in stock and I drove off in the one they had in the showroom. I am about 3 weeks into this and I am happier each day with the purchase.

I got mine at Friendly on I-35. They were very easy to deal with and it was actually one of the better and faster car buying experiences I've had. I went there because they had 11 on the lot (it looks like they've got 9 right now) and had a silver one equiped like I wanted. Was able to get what I considered a very good deal. I haven't used the service department yet, but no issues with the purchase process. The 0% offer right now also eliminates the financing headache and makes that process quicker.

I have a 15 mile commute and regularly get home with 30+ miles of charge left even when it is 100 degrees outside.

Nice numbers guys! Classic chevy just gave me one for the night. They told me to charge it up at my house over night and see if it meets my expecations on my daily commute. So I'm about to put it on the charger so it will be ready in the AM and we'll see how it goes. I'm also concerned due to the 100*+ temps out and having to crank the A/C.

The one they gave me was pretty loaded at 43,700, leather, navi, backup cam, harddrive, parking sensors ect ect. And I think they are giving an additional 2,500 off off that as dealer incentive. Does that sound like a fair deal to what other DFW buyers have been getting?

jbank - I'm in Grapevine (just down the road from Classic) and am VERY interested to see how you do tomorrow. My commute is a shorter at closer to 38 miles (121 through the funnel to 635 in my case). Good to know about the $2500 too. I may have to ask them f they can do the same "overnighter" for me too. I've test driven one from there twice now.
