Made my 41.1 mile round trip commute for the first time in my Volt with just electricity. Even had 2 miles left on the battery when I got home. Next time I may treat myself to some A/C on the way home.

Nicely done. Now that you achieved that you will continue to work on improving the EV range!

It always feels good to go places without using any gas. Just part of the fun with driving a VOLT!

Someday soon, without even trying, you will have all the ducks in a row and find you got 50 miles or greater per charge ! Thanks for posting a large photo... The big pics look great, so much better than the little pictures most people place on here.

I guess I have to consider myself lucky to live in a warm weather state. Since getting my Volt last month, I have been averaging between 45-50 mile range per charge on my 30mile roundtrip daily commute(adding the estimated remaining range to my miles driven at the end of the day). I think my route to work is pretty ideal for the Volt as well, speed limit 35-45mph with a handful of stops at traffic lights on average. I've even purposely selected a slower route(bypassing a slightly longer but higher speed 60mph+ route near my work) to minimize battery use. I'm starting to wonder if I need to be so frugal though since my electricity rate is only 7cents/kWh.

I have nearly the same commute distance (40.3 miles to be exact). The first few days I was running out of my charge a mile or two from home. I discovered there was actually a shorter route (2 miles) and it avoided the highways. Since I changed my commute in the second week of ownership, I have NEVER run out of charge on the way home 6 months later. On the colder days last winter I would get home with 2 or 3 miles left. Note, I would forgo using the heat and would wear a jacket and gloves. Seat warmer set on 2. With the warmer weather now, I usually get home with 11 miles or so remaining. My record is 13.

I often try to break my energy conservation record. So far, my best is 3.9 kWh each way.

Even before I leave, my car thinks I can make it 50 miles. It is comforting to know my car has so much confidence in my driving.

My car always reads 39 miles as full charge. I seem to get about 43 average though. Temperatures are perfect for a battery ride right now.

I set my own record yesterday, 48.5 miles round trip and still two showing on the battery. So, could have been 50+ had I detoured a little. But I feel like it's got to be round trip to be valid. My first 8 miles more often than not show more miles remaining than I had in the driveway - coming back, it's another story - I live partway up a mountain.

Congrats DC! I had a similar situation and did a 1.5 mile extra loop thru the neighborhood to hit 50.2 on a r/t charge. I was an actual round trip but I guess the short detour at the end would taint the achievement for the purists out there.
