Understand the need for banner ads but these pop-up ads with voice overs are particularly annoying and distracting. The first time they came up I thought I typed in the web address wrong.....

Not sure if it's related, but it seems like around the same time those pop-ups and multimedia ads started showing up, every page on the website started loading VERY SLOWLY for me, and many times the pages (including the home page) don't load at all!

One example, it took me over 10 attempts to load the home page today. Each time the title banner would load, then my computer (a newer mac) would just hang indefinitely, acting like it was still loading but with nothing happening on the page and no progress reported in my browser's activity pane.

Another example, this page I'm typing on right now, has still not finished loading and I've been on it for almost 10 minutes now typing this message.

It would be great to know if other users are experiencing this, or if I should be looking at my setup as the culprit.

EDIT: when clicking on the link for this discussion to re-read the thread, I just got redirected to a casino website. I didn't click on any (visible) link other than the title of the thread, and a new page opened with the unrelated website (even though my pop-up blocker is active). Maybe some black hat is messing with the site's code...?

NoScript works well on Firefox on MAC. I put NoScript in a while back because this site had failing adds.
My iPad is OK as well.

I hope everyone is aware that GM does not own or operate this Web site.

vBulletin Solutions, a division of Internet Brands, is a separate company. Either they put in the advertising or they were hacked.

Check out the bottom of this web page.

Actually Mike vBulletin is merely the company that provides the forum software, (as they do in a LOT of fourms)
But you are corect this site is not affliated with General Motors and is owned and operated by a company called VerticalScope.
The moderator staff are all volunteers.
I have sent emails to our site administrator regarding the recent ads.
Hopefully it's something they are in control of.

I added fake zones to my DNS for these domains:

    bidvertiser.com
    clickbank.net
    gretchen-club.de

and that cleared up the most heinous of the adds although a new one snuck through today.
